I studied Foreign Languages and Literature at the University of Macerata (Italy) where I graduated in 1987 with a thesis on an attribute grammar for Italian written at IBM Research Center in Rome.

After having taught Italian for a short period at Harris Academy, Dundee (Scotland), I went back to IBM Research Center in Rome where I collaborated with the Artificial Intelligence Group.

I then got interested in Machine Translation and I worked for the EEC project Eurotra for three years (1988-1991), my tasks where mainly concerned with the development of the Italian analysis and generation modules and with the English-Italian and Danish-Italian translation modules.

In the fall of 1991, I went to Tilburg University (The Netherlands) where I started a Ph.D program at the Institute for Language Technology and Artificial Intelligence. My dissertation deals with the syntactic, morphological and phonological properties of Italian clitics within the framework of Head-driven Phrase Structure Grammar (HPSG).

I came to Tuebingen in February 1996 with a postdoctoral fellowship. My aim is to develop further the ideas from my dissertation focussing mainly on the phonology-morphology interface. I also plan to continue my work on complex predicates extending the analysis I provided for Italian to other Romance languages.
